Stuff Women Did
Did you know that a WOMAN invented the hand-cranked pencil sharpener? Also known as a “Planetary” sharpener after its inventor, Edna Broome, the hand-cranked pencil sharpener revolutionized the way human beings achieved their desired pencil sharpness. Originally, Edna designed the mechanism without a repository casing, but after numerous incidents of “messy floor” and “mangled childrens-finger,” she added what has now become a standard outer shell. Mazel tov, Edna!
